The Silicon Valley Student Entrepreneurs and Innovators (SVSEI) club was founded in November 2012 by a group of Stanford students. The purpose of the club was to foster entrepreneurship and promote technological innovations both within and outside the Stanford campus. Over time, the club successfully expanded its reach to include more young students in Palo Alto and throughout the rest of Silicon Valley.
SVSEI is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting student entrepreneurs and innovators in Silicon Valley by facilitating resource sharing and promoting collaborations among students, engineers, entrepreneurs, innovators, business owners, startup founders, executives, and investors. In addition to hosting educational, technical, and business events, as well as social networking mixers, the club provides an effective support network and platform by bringing together talented individuals from various technology backgrounds and skill sets.
Over the years, the club has gradually attracted high school students to join its volunteer teams. Today, high school students serve as club officers, collaborating with established startup founders, investors, and technologists who serve as club mentors.
Currently, the club boasts 3,300 members in Silicon Valley, consisting mainly of young student professionals and members of the general public.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the club has transitioned to online activities. The club officers have found this transition to be more convenient, especially since many officers are young students with limited availability to organize onsite events. To alleviate the workload of student officers, the club has established partnerships with other non-profit organizations, co-hosting events with them.
The club initially operated through a shared Meetup group at meetup.com:
